We will not be holding these tournaments

Mario DeMelo I-Mite Tournament

Mario DeMelo served as Treasurer for over 15 years on the TYSA Board of Directors. The tournament has been named in honor of his service to the youth of Tewksbury.

The first tournament was held in 2006 as a way to use ice left at the end of the season. The tournament was such a success that it has become an annual event for Instructional Mite teams in our area. Because these young boys and girls are just learning to play the sport of hockey, the emphasis is on having fun! For most, this will be the first tournament they participate in. All players win or lose, are awarded trophies.

Each team plays two games with the top two teams playing for the championship. At the conclusion of the games we hold a Skills Competition for all participants of the tournament. Included are a team relay, power skate, mini one on one, top goalie and top shooter contest. Medals are awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners.

From our participants………

“I thought the tournament was extremely well organized and well run. Lots of nice details, like team names on locker rooms, team posters on the walls and the national anthem played before some of the games.”

RYH Squirt II Coach

Thanks for a great tournament. Our kids had a great time. It was both challenging and fun at the same time. You run a very organized event.”

PAT Squirt IV Coach

“The kids had a great time, as usual. Also, I feel it was one of the best organized tournaments we’ve attended. Thank you again.”

RYH Squirt III Coach

“I thought this was a very well run tournament geared towards the players first and foremost. I think they got a lot of value for the cost. Everyone was pleasant to work with and having the room upstairs for the siblings was great too.
We just did our Lowell Devils game and the kids were beaming ear to ear about skating around the ice. You really made it a special event for the kids.

LYH Squirt I Coach

“I think you all did a fabulous job! The tournament is well organized, well thought out, and you are all a pleasure to deal with! I don’t think you missed a detail.”

BYH Team Mom

And, why we’re involved with youth hockey:

“Hey coach! We didn’t win any games but I have a present, a medal and a ticket to a Devils game. This is awesome!!”
